The Auburn Hotel
/Set within a beautiful heritage-style building complete with ornate Victorian décor, The Auburn Hotel is an iconic pub, restaurant and function venue in Hawthorn.
The venue features stylish bar and lounge facilities, a recently refurbished dining area, a huge outdoor courtyard with retractable roof, plus a number of private function rooms for hire.
In line with its social setting, the menu items are primarily designed for sharing, with dishes divided into user friendly sections.
From the “Small” section, the Oysters with Spring onion, ginger, sesame & lime impressed with its fusion of flavours marrying well with the freshly shucked oysters. The Jalapeño poppers filled with cream cheese and aioli were similarly delicious. The batter encasing the Jalapeño poppers was ethereally light and crisp while the stuffing was rich and flavoursome.
For mains we recommend the 500g Baby Snapper, fennel & citrus salad from the “Grill” section. The quality of the Snapper was exemplary. It was a dish that allowed the natural subtle sweetness of the fish to be enjoyed.
A cheeky twist on the traditional peasant bread and butter pudding, The Auburn's "Queen of puddings" is a decadent rendition of the traditional and featured luxurious brioche, beautiful strawberry jam and melt in your mouth meringue.
Established in 1888 and operating as the Geebung Polo Club for the past 18 years, the Auburn Hotel has reclaimed its former name and is poised to write a new chapter in its long and rich history.
