MFWF: Everyone's A Critic with renowned Chef Andreas Papadakis
/Gastrology recently attended Everyone’s A Critic, a special food and wine event at Cinema Nova featuring renowned Chef Andreas Papadakis (Osteria Ilaria and Tipo 00 - Chef of the Year: Time Out Food Awards 2017) during the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival.
A once-only occasion, the event brought Andreas back to Nova where he and partner Raúl Moreno Yagüe created the snack-based menu offerings some years ago.
The meal was a delicious 9 course degustation of new snacks in the style of the easy-to-eat fare designed for film-going clientele, served in three medleys of three. Saluting the MFW festival’s theme of “community”, the event provided guests the opportunity to discuss with Andreas the dishes he created especially for the event. Guests were also able to vote for their favourite dish of the evening - the most popular item becoming part of the Nova Bar and Kitchen’s new menu.
Athens born Andreas Papadakis has 20 year’s experience as a chef. He spent four years as Senior Chef at Vue de Monde, then opened Comida Bebe, his art cuisine and consulting business with Raúl Yagüe and Yossi Klein, and most recently his award-winning Italian Melbourne CBD restaurants, Tipo 00 and Osteria Ilaria, where he is chef and co-owner.
