7 Food Sins
/A gastropub located in the heart of bustling Athens, 7 Food Sins is known for serving dishes of gastronomical proportions.
Brothers Vangelis and Vasilis Sotiropoulos are the masterminds behind 7 Food Sins and created this eatery in the heart of Plaka aver four years ago. Their mission was to introduce food that combined zest and vigour of street food with the high gastronomy techniques.
The restaurant is housed within a gorgeous 1890 neoclassical mansion that boasts a delightful lounge and rooftop. During summer, the tables on rooftop are perhaps some of the most sought-after in Athens with its unobstructed view of the imposing Acropolis.
At the helm is Chef Dimos Samourakis who presents a menu that heroes seasonal and local produce. Everything is made from scratch from the fluffy bread to the smoked meat.
We were only able to visit during lunch where a more casual menu is available but managed to taste some outstanding dishes that also feature on their dinner menu.
Highlights include the dish of crab. We loved the tender and naturally sweet morsels of crab served with refreshing cucumber gazpacho, cucumber gel and a slightly tart sorbet lime ginger which provided contrast and interest. This was a dish that looked beautiful and tasted even better.
The Pork cabecero iberico was similarly wonderful. The pork simply melted in our mouths and had beautifully prepared accompaniments of celeriac bbq, carrots and roasted hazelnut. The dish was brought together by a luscious vinsanto verjuice sauce. Just yum! Our meal concluded on a sweet high with a lovely dessert. Think creamy white chocolate semifreddo laced with mango, yogurt, crunchy meringue and a dash of spearmint.
