Anh Chi Em

A welcome addition to Highton’s culinary scene, Anh Chi Em adds an innovative and premium Vietnamese offering. The aptly named Anh Chi Em (meaning brothers and sisters) is a family run business with a paddock to plate mentality. In fact, 50% of the herbs and vegetables are grown by the family on their farm located nearby.

The restaurant is sleek yet exudes informality, with the airy space accented by warm wooden furnishings. In line with its social setting, the menu items are primarily designed for sharing, with dishes divided into user friendly sections. The menu is abundant with options and features authentic, fresh, and flavoursome dishes which descent from traditional Vietnamese recipes passed down generations ago and are served with an urban twist.

We loved the contemporary Vietnamese cuisine which was executed with flair and a respectful understanding. Without exception, every dish we had was excellent. Expect tried and true flavour combinations with an elevated touch. There is even a delectably decadent truffle banh mi on the menu!

We fell in love with the restaurants signature dishes including their mini crispy pork belly banh mi, honey & soy chicken wingettes as well as their outstanding crispy salt & pepper quail with kumquat. You will struggle to find these dishes anywhere else, and they are simply stunning. These are MUST-HAVES when visiting Anh Chi Em.

If you’re after more Vietnamese staples, you can’t go wrong either. There is so much to enjoy at Anh Chi Em from the pork & prawn rice paper rolls which are freshly wrapped with beautifully fresh Vietnamese herbs from the family farm to the perfectly crunchy chicken and prawn spring rolls to the utterly addictive chargrilled chicken served with steamed rice.

Whatever you do, do not leave without trying one of their mocktails. While the restaurant is still awaiting its liquor licence, the drinks menu is still very much worth trying. These guys know flavour so it is no surprise that their mocktails are simply some of the best we have ever had. Think strawberry pho-jito (inspired by the ingredients that go into making a pho broth), a cheeky Vietnamese take on pina colada (this truly is liquid dessert and tastes a bit like a lime cheesecake) as well as a heady Truffle infused Vietnamese coffee martini.

Anh Chi Em offers a compelling proposition for casual yet refined dining in Highton with offerings that are tasty, fresh and impactful. Delivering high quality Vietnamese hawker and home-inspired cuisine, Anh Chi Em is set to capture the heart of locals and visitors.
