Backstreet Bar & Grill Media Dinner
/Backstreet Bar and Grill is a charming neighbourhood bistro, specialising in dry aged meat and tucked away in the backstreets of Fitzroy.
Gastrology recently enjoyed an exquisite tasting menu in the ambient underground dining room that is reserved for private functions. The room seats up to 18 guests and the dry ageing room provides the perfect backdrop, reminding guests of the love and care that goes into preparing their delectable meat.
All their butchery is done in house and the grass fed and organically farmed meat is dry aged; exposed to air to concentrate the flavour, from a few weeks to several months. We feasted on delectable meats, such as the slow cooked Texan flank steak with sour cream slaw and the lamb shoulder paired with flat bread and mint yoghurt. The meats melted away in your mouth, and they tasted that much more special, knowing that the meat has been aged right here in Fitzroy! They also pair well with a glass of Clare Valley Shiraz or any of their stunning house wines.
There is also a great selection of pasta dishes, made in house, such as the pillowy pan fried gnocchi with pumpkin, spinach, pine nuts, lemon and fetta, basil and goats cheese fettuccini, or the house favourite, the linguini marinara.
Next time you are in Fitzroy, be sure to venture off Brunswick Street to experience Backstreet Bar and Grill, where you can taste the very best seasonal produce. Open 7 days for breakfast and lunch and Wednesday through to Saturday for dinner.
