Bekka
/
Moonee Ponds is home to a plethora of cafes, restaurants and bars but none quite like Bekka, a new Lebanese restaurant paying homage to the Beqaa Valley, a bountiful food and wine region of Lebanon.
After a serendipitous trip to Lebanon where they experienced firsthand the remarkable hospitality of the locals, owners, Richard and Suzanne Pavlov, both second-generation Lebanese-Australians, were inspired to introduce this passionate and delicious cuisine to their local community, and Bekka was born.
Richard’s experience and flair for Lebanese cuisine translates into a stunning menu that stays true Lebanese heritage.
Dining at Bekka is a mezza - a unique sharing experience of fun, healthy and delicious food. We loved every dish we sampled at Bekka. Of particular note was the award-winning Falafel which is aromatic, full of flavour, light and fluffy on the inside whilst perfectly crisp on the outside.
Another absolute must have is the coutlé. Melt in your mouth lamb, beef and rice meatballs served with the most moreish tomato soup and topped graciously with creamy labne. Comfort food at its best, this dish is like a warm hug.
More substantial offerings, such as the mixed Grill is similarly enticing and features a generous plate of Lamb, Chicken and Kafta skewers from the char grill, served with rice, hummus, village salad and pita for an impressive and nourishing dining experience.
Dessert time is equally as delicious at Bekka. Our top pick is the Kanafeh – a decadent oven baked cheese tart with kataifi and rose water syrup. This dessert strikes a mouth-watering balance between sweet and salinity that makes your tastebuds tingle. For something lighter the Muhallebi is beautiful – milk custard served with seasonal berries and orange blossom syrup.
Attention to detail in the beautiful interior, the food and the service means you can’t help but feel comfortable and at home at Bekka.
