MFWF: Burger Invitational
/The Melbourne Burger Invitational (as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival) brought together the who's who of Melbourne's burger industry - Beatbox Kitchen, 1090 Burger, Dude Food Man, Easeys, 8bit, Mr Burger and Gelato Messina for some dessert offerings.
The sold out event was held at Welcome to Thornbury which is Melbourne's only permanent food truck park.
We enjoyed with some refreshing cold Bulmer's Ciders to start with and ordered some delicious burgers to taste.
Beatbox Kitchen's Raph Burger was a simple burger done well. Filled with a beef patty, crisp cos lettuce, cheese and onion, the burger was nice and meaty with the perfect bun to filling ratio. A side serve of Fries with the homemade relish was a great accompaniment.
We also ordered the Dude Food's 'Dude Burger'. The brioche bun consisted of a wagyu patty, and all the trimmings such as lettuce, aioli, mustard, tomato, pickles, cheese and onion. This 'Dude' burger was juicy and was expertly prepared.
The Welcome to Thornbury Food Truck Park provided a great venue to host the event with a cool, laidback casual atmosphere and a sizeable beer garden serving a wide selection of refreshments.
