Cuisine Cuisine
/An upscale, modern Chinese eatery offering the finest Cantonese and Chinese delicacies with a unique contemporary twist, locals know Cuisine Cuisine as one of Hong Kong’s best places for the weekend yumcha ritual.
Set against sleek modern interiors on the third floor of The Mira Hong Kong, Michelin-recommended Cuisine Cuisine showcases a dining experience that’s steeped in some of the most exacting Cantonese culinary traditions, serving top quality, authentic fare crafted by master chefs.
The dining room is gorgeous - the striking emerald colour palette echoing the verdant green Kowloon Park right outside the windows. A magnificent light installation comprising of a collection of glass orbs that hang delicately above, giving the ethereal appearance of a magical, glittering sky.
As expected, we were thoroughly impressed by our yumcha experience at the restaurant. The menu features an abundance of choices including 30+ dim sum options and other lunch specials available a la carte, next to the set lunch. There truly is something to suit everyone (even the fussiest of eaters).
Our personal favourite is the steamed wild mushroom and black truffle dumplings. Think wonderfully thin yet slightly gooey dumpling pastry encasing perfectly cooked varieties of mushrooms coated in black truffle paste.
Another must have is the rice flour roll stuffed with shrimp, crab meat, garoupa fillet and mushrooms – a modern take on the traditional cheong fun, this dish is delicate and heroes the subtle sweetness of the seafood.
For something more decadent, the crispy taro puffs with diced chicken and foie gras will leave you wanting more. The addition of foie gras certainly adds to the decadence of this dish and works wonderfully with the creamy texture of the taro.
If the number of options are leaving you a touch overwhelmed, perhaps start with the deluxe dim sum platter which is a tasting plate of some of the finest dumplings you will ever try. This picture perfect set includes steamed scallop dumpling with black truffle and steamed lobster and egg white dumpling – a truly exquisite selection.
As you slowly work your way to dessert time, make sure you try the ever popular steamed purple potato buns. Pillow soft and oozing with purple potato and salty egg yolk paste this is a stunning mixture of salty and sweet that will leave your taste buds tingling.
