Curry Vault
/Located in the heart of the CBD, Curry Vault is that reliable Indian restaurant you want to return to time and time again. That place which satisfies your curry cravings without breaking the bank.
Run by passionate owner Kailash, the restaurant is situated off Collins Street in the picturesque Bank Place in the CBD and has been serving patrons since 2006. The menu specialises in Indian cuisine, made from fresh produce.
We loved tasting our way through the signature Curry Vault Banquet ($35 per person) which comes with an endless top-up of all main dishes and accompaniments, so it's really an all-you-can-eat proposition.
The Chicken Tikka was a moreish starter. The boneless pieces of chicken were tender, having been roasted to perfection in a traditional clay oven. The vegetable samosas and onion bhajia were equally moreish and full of flavour.
For mains, we adored the curries we had. The Butter Chicken was a beautifully mild and creamy curry. It was a crowd favourite which had us fighting for the last morsel. The lamb rogan josh on the other hand was exceedingly tender and drenched in a heavier, full flavour-laden curry, courtesy of being cooked in a myriad of delectable spices.
The vegetarian curries were not to be outshone - both the mixed vegetable subzi and dal makhani were thoroughly enjoyable and boasted beautiful flavours which made them a great pair with the fluffy naan and beady basmati rice.
Although not included in the banquet menu, desserts are certainly worth trying. Desserts continue the trend of the evening - Delicious. The homemade Pistachio kulfi was a particular hit - rich, creamy, and amply sweet.
