d'Arry's Verandah Restaurant

Set in the heart of McLaren Vale, d'Arry's Verandah Restaurant possesses all of the requisite elements to deliver an enchanting experience. Attached to one of the most significant wineries in the region, d’Arenberg, the restaurant boasts breathtaking views overlooking McLaren Vale's rolling hills and is an idyllic place to enjoy a stunning meal complemented by d'Arenberg's award winning  wines.

Under the capable guidance of Head Chef Peter Reschke, the sense of true hospitality is palpable, echoed in the modern Australian menu prepared using high quality, fresh ingredients which are often locally sourced. 

To start, the South Australian half shell scallops were beautiful. The scallops were perfectly seared and bursting with natural flavour, a flavour further enhanced by the subtle sweetness of lemongrass coconut cream. The fruity acidity of green mango, mint, coriander, pickled shallot salad introduced further layers of complexity.  

The coarse cut beef carpaccio was similarly delicious. Minced beef was decadently spiked with parmesan crisp and truffle oil and perfectly balanced with a gooey centred soft poached egg.

For mains the aromatic pork fillet pleased. The candied eggplant, grilled pineapple, basil, bean salad and coconut sambal were the perfect accompaniments.

Our savoury courses concluded on a high with the slow braised kangaroo tail and seared saddle. Both cuts of the kangaroo were exquisitely prepared - each tender and boasted impressive depth. Together with textural raw cauliflower, refreshing pea and fetta salad and luxurious cauliflower puree, this was a memorable dish.

Whatever you do, do not leave without trying the desserts at D'Arry's. Think honey sponge served with caramelised white chocolate mousse, milk crumb, honeycomb and mango sorbet as well as pineapple, pistachio and coconut fudge served with coconut sorbet and yuzu marshmallow. Delicious!

The Cube

It's exciting times at d'Arry's. Construction has commenced on the d’Arenberg Cube, a five storey multi-function building
set among Mourvèdre vines, with views overlooking the rolling hills of Willunga and the 19th century homestead that houses the existing cellar door and d’Arry’s Verandah Restaurant. The Cube is earmarked for opening in June or July this year and we cannot wait to return.
