With lovely Julie at the helm taking care of guests at the front of house, the team are committed to creating high quality food. With each bite, we tasted the authenticity of the ingredients and unique Indonesian flavours.
We loved tasting our way through the menu. To start we shared the sate Nusantara with peanut sauce and the Iga Bakar Kecap Solo which were both absolutely delicious. Both dishes boasted a beautiful charring and were served with mouth-watering condiments.
For mains the Ikan Bakar Aroma was an absolute standout. Fresh fish had been slathered in luscious and aromatic sambal and grilled over hot charcoal. It was simply beautiful.
Another MUST HAVE is the Ayam Gebrek Cabe Hijau. Think smashed and amazingly battered and fried chicken cutlet fillet with green chilli. The spice level on this dish was just perfect so as to allow the other spices to shine.
The Nestum soft shell crab had us fighting over the last morsel. Aromatic, light and crunchy nestum battered soft shell crab had been fried to absolute perfection.
Pete is a personal favourite of ours and it is rare to see it on menus in Melbourne so it was a true delight to sample D'penyetz D'cendol’s Sambal udang pete (Stir Fried Prawns and Stinky Beans in Chilli Sauce). It certainly did not disappoint.
When it comes to dessert, a visit to D'penyetz D'cendol’ would of course be incomplete without some of their famous cendol. Spoil yourself with their signature bowl which has an amazing load of toppings including jackfruit, grass jelly, red bean, ketan hitam. If you’re a durian lover make sure you get the Cendol durian or include it as an extra topping on your signature bowl. You won’t regret it!
