Stretched over a lush slope that is covered with perennial olive trees and enormous carob trees, Eleonas Country Village resembles a small village nestled in the arms of Cretan nature, just a stone’s throw away from the well- known village of Zaros. At every step, aromatic herbs, plants and colourful flowers will awaken all your senses.
Ideally located in the shadow of the mythical Mt Psiloritis, the highest mountain of Crete, (where according to the Greek mythology God Zeus was raised), a variety of guest houses stone carved from local craftsmen provide a carefree oasis that is steeped in nature.
Stone cottage
We loved staying in one of Eleonas’ stone cottages.
Built traditionally with stone and wood, and boasts a rustic country style. They simply blend in with the breath-taking natural environment. The cottage is beautifully appointed with large windows allowing plenty of natural light to stream in and a comfortable double bed and a big fold out coach that can be used as an extra bed, The spacious bathroom also features a generous bath tub . We loved that every Cottage has its own private terrace with sunbeds overlooking the mountains and the gardens.
