Give a Fork! at The Botanical
/April is Give a Fork! month in Australia, a campaign that aims to raise awareness about the environmental impact our eating habits have and encourage us to take small, positive steps with our food choices. In support of the campaign, The Botanical in South Yarra (as well as many of Melbourne's other top restaurants and cafes) added a special #grexy dish to their menus with a portion of the money from each dish going to support Sustainable Table.
And the verdict? The Botanical's #grexy dish of pulled pork Greenvale Farm shoulder, crispy potato skins, autumn leaves & root vegetables is sensational. The beautifully tender pork shoulder just soaked up the unctuous jus and paired classically with the perfectly cooked, fresh root vegetables. Fried potato skins provided texture and showcased responsible use of produce.
The Botanical is a flexible, comfortable and chic space which seemingly caters for the entire spectrum of dining, from the bar in the rear, bottle shop and causal dining area as you enter and formal dining area running alongside the kitchen. Each space is distinct but harmonious.
During our visit we also sampled a wonderful salad of heirloom tomato, wasabi mascarpone, basil and a perfectly cooked dish of hanger steak ‘Tagliata’ wild rocket, grana padano, olive oil.
