Hash Specialty Coffee
/Hash is the perfect embodiment of a thriving Melbourne café, a weekend brunch mecca, drawing in the crowds week in week out with its consistently excellent food, fantastic coffee and cheerful wait staff.
The two-level open plan space creates a warm atmosphere; the central coffee bar stands out with steel finishes, while ply wood walls and concrete polished floors give an industrialized feel.
As expected of any great Melbourne café, the coffee is excellent. The house-roasted signature blend is a combination of Kenyan and Ethiopian single origin beans that produce a sweet and fruity cup of coffee that is full of acidic complexity. There is also a great selection filter and immersion brews. If coffee is not your thing, then make sure you don’t leave without trying their famous hot chocolate or matcha flossy.
We enjoyed our dish of charred ora king salmon. Perfectly cooked salmon was served with heirloom beetroot, vanilla cucumber, crispy rye and beetroot toast, pork cracker, lemon gel and oozy 63-degree egg.
For something incredibly Melbourne, try their smashed avo. It’s an oldie but a goodie. Hash’s version of this much-loved brunch option is incredibly generous. Think crusty multigrain bread topped with luxurious smashed avo, confit heirloom tomatoes, olive crumb, chevre, preto, lemon and a poached egg encasing oozy yolk. Just yum!
