Isme Lebanese Restaurant Fitzroy shares the riches of Lebanese cuisine with a journey through Lebanon's culinary sensibilities.
The restaurant's menu boasts a selection of plates that are perfect to share. Everything we tried was beautiful, a clear labour of love from the passionate kitchen.
To start, highlights include the luxurious trio of dips with an assortment of bread as well as the roasted eggplant which simply melts in your mouth.
For something heartier, the lamb skewers are a must-try - beautifully tender baby lamb fillet was perfectly seasoned with garlic, thyme and Lebanese spices and served with a creamy garlic dip.
For seafood lovers, the spicy prawn fatteh hits the spot. We loved the plump prawns which say a top a bed of crunchy pita slathered in laben garlic, sumac and roasted nuts.
Dessert time at Isme continued to please. We concluded our visit on a sweet high with the deconstructed cheesecake which boasted layers of mascarpone, baklava, white chocolate and crusted pistachio.
On the drinks front, a selection of Middle Eastern inspired cocktails go down a treat. We recommend trying the Sultan which is a heady mix of fig jam, cognac, Cointreau and Dissarono.
