Merricks Creek

Located in Mornington Peninsula, Merricks Creek Winery Cellar Door is a family run winery boasting a 5 star rating by James Halliday.

Owner and winemaker, Peter Parker's passion for Pinot Noir translates to a wonderful selection of high quality vintages (with its very first vintage of Pinot Noir attracting a score of 96 from James Halliday in 2001). 

The cellar door is chic and modern with clever use of textures including hues of stone and timber. The stunning vineyard is simply a sensational backdrop whilst enjoying rustic shared dishes on the raised deck.

We loved the variety of share plates on offer - simple but absolutely delicious. The menu offers a selection of share plates ($15 each) which feature seasonal produce that are unpretentious and perfect for taking in the wine and scenery. Think fresh goat curd, tomatoes and beetroot served with a warm baguette, a classical rendition of the Osso Buco or hearty slow cooked lamb with mashed peas. To finish, you can even indulge in the most delicious double cream cheese from France. The best part is, everything on the menu goes down particularly well with the winery’s stunning Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

After lunch, we recommend you take the opportunity to join Peter on one of the tours of the wine production facility where you can hear all about the hard work and love that goes into the production of the excellent wines. Peter takes advantage of natural conditions but also puts his stamp on innovative viticulture. The vineyard features close planting methods for some of the Pinot Noir vines -  while rare in Australia, the practice has been in place in Burgundy for 700 years and meant to produce vigorous vines with more intense flavours coming through from the Pinot Noir.
