MFWF: Truly Madly Deeply Melbourne

The Plaza Ballroom recently presented a lavish evening of food, wine and entertainment as part of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival on Wednesday 9th March.

This uniquely Melbourne event, titled ‘Truly, Madly, Deeply Melbourne’ was a rare opportunity for guests to experience the iconic Plaza Ballroom at the Regent Theatre, offering history, grandeur and ambience.

Built in 1929, the venue is a unique blend of historic beauty and contemporary elegance. It’s this combination that creates a particularly charming dining experience.

In an extravagant celebration of the city, diners indulged in a decadent four-course dinner from Executive Chef David Ricardo, accompanied by matching wines from locally sourced Punt Road Wines in the Yarra Valley.

The splendid rococo surrounds of the Plaza Ballroom played home to plentiful entertainment acts throughout the night, including the Champagne Acrobats suspended from the roof, pouring champagne for guests upon arrival.

As for cocktails, we were pleased to try creations by Oscar Eastman, Head Bartender of Melbourne’s Eau De Vie and Jack Sotti, Head Bartender of Boilermaker.

It wouldn’t be a Melbourne event without some great coffee. The evening also included coffee by Dukes Coffee Roasters, featuring the first public appearance of their new Highwire Organic Espresso Blend.
