TAP. Wines at Mr Bianco
/Gastrology recently indulged in TAP. Wines over a decadent Italian meal at Mr Bianco.
TAP. is a new way to enjoy wine by the glass, preserving varietals in cutting-edge stainless steel wine cylinders, poured from custom-designed towers.
Founded by wine connoisseur, Andrew De Angelis, TAP.’s philosophy is simple: deliver wine that’s authentic, consistent, cost-effective and environmentally-friendly. Recognising the need for a fresh approach to ‘wine by the glass’ service in the hospitality industry, De Angelis grasped the opportunity to offer a new and innovative concept.
We absolutely loved imbibing TAP.'s Sangiovese over a hearty Italian meal at Mister Bianco. Mister Bianco is a vibrant Italian restaurant in Kew with high energy dining that celebrates authentic Sicilian flavours and southern Italian inspiration. Mister Bianco has a cosmopolitan glow about it with a downtown design.
Led by chef Joseph Vargetto, the kitchen serves delicious Italian cuisine which centres on the preparations of authentic Italian dishes paired with fresh ingredients.
As expected of any good Italian restaurant, Mister Bianco is good at producing quality pasta dishes. The meal started with an excellent entrée of stinging nettle and ricotta gnocchi. The gnocchi was served with an array of perfectly cooked seafood including calamari, clams, muissesls and scallops and enveloped within a fennel broth. The fennel broth consommé was flavoursome, well-seasoned and boasted rich flavours. The gnocchi was beautifully made, fluffy, light with lovely flavours.
For mains the millers organic duck breast was sensational. The slices of duck breast were cooked to a rarely found perfection allowing the rich flavour of the duck to shine through. The accompanying quince puree and raisins added a desirable level of sweetness while the flavour-laden black pepper sauce provided the crowning element to the luxurious dish.
For dessert, do not go past the banana semifreddo. Possessing a lovely smooth texture and the right level of sweetness, the semifreddo was well made and bursting with flavour. Each element on the plate was well-executed but the real wow factor came when each was eaten together - absolutely delicious! It was a decadent end to a decadent meal.
Currently pouring Rosé, Pinot Grigio and Sangiovese, TAP.’s cylinders and distinctive signature ceramic towers, make it the only system of its kind in Australia.
In a society where beer and cider are often the only options on tap, TAP. is revolutionising the way Australian’s drink wine. TAP.’s vison is that people should have access to fresh wine all year round with ease, for a guaranteed flawless pour each time, with no risk of spoilage or cork taint.
Already appearing in some of Melbourne’s most popular restaurants, TAP. is quickly becoming a popular choice amongst the hospitality industry.
