Celebrate National Pizza Day with Australia's most expensive pizza

Forget Valentine’s Day this February, and celebrate Australia’s one true love on National Pizza Day. Recognised annually on the 9th February, it’s the perfect excuse to tuck into a pizza… or even the most expensive pizza in Australia.

To celebrate his favourite occasion, Johnny di Francesco – master pizzaiolo of Melbourne – will be making the most expensive pizza in Australia. The wood fire pizza will be made in traditional Neapolitan style, and ingredients will include zucchini, lobster, lemon ricotta and black truffle.

The pizza is set to sell for $100, and will be available at all 400 Gradi locations throughout Melbourne: Brunswick, Essendon, Crown and Eastland. It will only be available on National Pizza Day and reservations are essential, as it must be pre-ordered when you make your booking.

Johnny di Francesco is owner of the beloved Gradi restaurants in Melbourne, and winner of the World Pizza Championships in 2014. His dedication to making world-class pizza has earned him the position of Australasian Principal of V.P.N, an international association based in Naples dedicated to protecting authentic Neapolitan pizza.

With four Gradi restaurants across Melbourne, it will be easier than ever to get your pizza fix on National Pizza Day. Make a date out of it, dine in and splurge on the most expensive pizza in Australia; or stay in your pyjamas, get a Margherita delivered and have a pizza party. However you want to celebrate, Gradi will be there to steal a pizza your heart!
