Santoni
/Last Saturday’s beautiful summer morning was the perfect setting to visit Santoni’s newly launched breakfast menu on their rooftop on Glenferrie Road. A staple on Hawthorn’s busy strip, Santoni is expanding its servings from lunch and dinner to a breakfast menu that serves both light and filling dishes.
We tried the king prawn set on a sourdough bread complemented with smashed avocado, cucumber tomato salad, Meredith fetta and pistacio dukkah. At first instance we weren’t sure about the unpeeled king prawn but after our first bite, it was clear that the skin added a welcoming layer of crunch to the dish.
Sticking with its pizzeria roots, Santoni also serves 2 breakfast pizzas (which although we didn’t get the chance to try, we saw it being tried by others and immediately shot to our must try next visit!).
We also tried one of the more hearty dishes - the Mick Adams Cheeky Charlie Burger. This had a healthy serving of soft shell crab, pickled cucumber radish with a chilli jam. For those that are a bit hungrier, we recommend this dish as it also comes with a side serving of fries. This offering comes from the Mick Adams Burger Bar in Oakleigh, which owners Peter, Michael and Anthony Koutroulis also own and operate.
Aside from the food, we were extremely impressed by the venue. On the rooftop of a three story building, the location served as a great spot to hang for breakfast. This was assisted by the full bar (which I’m sure is used plenty come dinner time), which also serves Bloody Mary’s and Mimosa’s to kickstart your weekend mornings.
For those more health conscious, Santoni has Pressed Juice on hand. You can check out Santoni now for breakfast at 634 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn open everyday from 8am to late.
