Sporting Globe

Gastrology was invited to The Sporting Globe for their Autumn/Winter menu launch. The Sporting Globe is a great modern-day pub and bar, emphasising sport as the main attraction with large screens and services to match. Fittingly, their dining menu is also a step above what you would traditionally expect from a sports bar, with the emphasis on quality pub food evident in their menu.

We sat down for a very hearty entree selection, encompassing wings (both Portuguese and Buffalo), a mushroom and halloumi slider, cauliflower and feta bites (which melt in your mouth!) and some sweetly-sauced ribs. We would have been forgiven for thinking this was the main meal given the generous serving sizes!

After having the chance to speak to some other guests and mingling with some of the folks at The Sporting Globe, the mains were served. We were fortunate enough to try both the Tomahawk Rib Eye Steak and Smoked Cheddar Parma. 2014 Masterchef winner, Brent Owens, created the Parma, with the bacon and cheddar sitting atop a deliciously crunchy and thickly sliced schnitzel. The Rib Eye Steak was equally large, juicy and served with thick-cut fries. You can bet that you won’t leave hungry eating at The Sporting Globe!

Although it seemed impossible, we mustered up some extra belly space as the desserts were served (sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves and neglected to take some photos!), with our personal favourite being the Golden Gaytime sandwich. This brought together our two childhood favourite ice creams - Golden Gaytimes and Maxibons!

All in all, it was a very enjoyable night. Next time you want to catch a footy game or if you just want to have a nice casual lunch or dinner with some friends, make sure to visit the one of many The Sporting Globe locations.
