The menu features the best of Cantonese and Sichuan cuisine which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We loved tasting our way through the menu. To start we enjoyed a stunning range of appetizers - fiery jellyfish with sichuan sauce, umami laden sliced pork in garlic sauce, green peppercorn oil chicken and refreshing crushed cucumber served with black fungus and lotus root.
Seafood is expertly at Sun Kitchen. The stewed fish fillet with pickled vegetables as a real highlight. thinly-sliced fish fillet was poached in a rich broth made from chicken, fish and sichuan pickles; resulting in a velvety and silky texture, that is piquant and zest.
Meat lovers are also very well taken care of at Sun Kitchen. The dish of chicken with ginger and onion oil was a lesson in sheer perfection. Delicate free-range chicken had been poached in a rich mother broth making it tender and succulent. We loved the accompanying savoury dressing and delicious spring onion oil. The ever popular Dongting braised pork belly also arrived tasting just as good as always. Think braised pork belly slow-cooked in a dark soy, giving the meat a soft and gelatinous texture that literally melts in your mouth.
We were incredibly impressed with all the dishes – each carefully prepared and boasting great flavour and produce.
Our dinner concluded on lovely sweet note with a traditional dessert of osmanthus jelly - classically prepared and tasted delicious.
Boasting commendable food and drink options and staff that are eager to please, Sun Kitchen At Home is a compelling proposition for guests who would like to indulge and be treated like royalty in the comfort of their own home by indulging in the flavours loved by Qing Dynasty emperors.
