Sushi Boto
/Brought to you by the team behind White Mojo, Sushi Boto recently opened on the top floor of the ‘Street Eats’ extension at St Collins Lane.
Navy blue hand crafted sushi boats diligently chug along the Sushi Boto stream and offer delicious freshly made umami plates to customers. A cheeky take on the well-loved sushi train, the Sushi Boto menu is wide ranging and includes traditional sashimi, California rolls, chicken karaage to black ink mini bao’s with mayonnaise egg, to savoury salted egg, and the ever-popular hosomaki sushi.
We loved tasting our way through Sushi Boto’s menu. Pretty as a picture, the Sushi Boto stream winds its way merrily merrily through a landscape of pink flowers. Seating 55 people and with all the sushi boat plates at only $3.80 per dish, Sushi Boto makes 1000 sushi treats a day to satiate their patrons.
Sushi Boto’s menu is derived from traditional sushi but also has tasty twists such as soy sauce spiked with Aussie Vegemite and tempura chilli cheese avocado – drawing on the provenance of Sushi Boto’s café roots of White Mojo.
In addition to the delicious selection of plates chugging along, the Chirashi Don is one dish that thoroughly impressed. We loved this exquisite bowl of wild caught fresh sashimi served with premium wild salmon caviar, tamago atop fluffy rice. Every mouthful was as gratifying as the next.
Before you leave make sure you have a go at the line-up of toy machines and mechanical claws that can be operated with a token at the rear of the restaurant. Lucky punters can win anything from mini ramen bowl key ring to a Chanel lipstick.
