Transport Hotel comprises of Transport Public Bar pub, Taxi Kitchen casual dining restaurant, and Transit Bar on the rooftop. Taxi Kitchen is a casual dining or “fun dining”. establishment. Taxi Kitchen is a top tier restaurant that serves modern Australian cuisine with an Asian influence. Since opening in 2014, some of Australia’s most well-regarded chefs have worked at Taxi Kitchen.
Right in the vibrant hub of Melbourne’s CBD, Transport Hotel is a launching pad for a truly Melbourne day or night out. Catch a game on the big screens, listen to some of Melbourne’s best live music or simply enjoy the view from one of their three outdoor areas overlooking the Yarra River, Fed Square and Flinders Street.
We loved re-visiting Taxi Kitchen which until today continues to boast some of the best views, food, wine and service that Melbourne has to offer.
The menu encourages sharing and showcases fresh and local produce as hero ingredients to create communal and fun dishes.
The Sake washed tuna, soybean pesto and daikon salad were one of the highlights from our visit. The soybean pesto dressing was refreshing and flavoursome without being overpowering, thereby preserving the integrity of the beautifully fresh, delicate slices of tuna.
Another memorable from the menu is the dish of slow cooked lamb shoulder, salt bush, pickles and caramelised yoghurt. This dish was a triumph, both in terms of texture and flavour. The lamb was expertly flavoured and perfectly served with a blend of textures and herbs.
Taxi Kitchen impresses with smart, contemporary dining that boasts a fun, approachable and communal flair.
