Tutto Bene Test Kitchen Tuesday
/Tuesdays are the new hot dining day at Tutto Bene. Recently appointed head chef Nicolo Conenna (095 Group, Carmine’s Group) heralds in a fresh dining event for any foodie’s calendar: Test Kitchen Tuesdays , commencing on 25 June.
Occupying the last Tuesday of each month, Tutto Bene’s Test Kitchen Tuesday will see diners treated to a degustation of delights, enjoying four courses for just $40 and $30 for matching wines.
The set menu will comprise all new dishes each month, only available on the night. Gastrology recently enjoyed a sneak peek of what diners can expect from Test Kitchen Tuesdays and were thoroughly impressed.
To start, an elegant dish of slow cooked milk braised beef was served with aromatic wild mushroom consommé and black cabbage dust. This was perfectly matched with the 2018 Discovery Road Fiano from the Clare Valley a fresh and full textured wine with refreshing mineral notes.
To follow, a hearty bowl of al dente ribbons of tagliolino was served with roast chicken ragu and finished with mint, orange and crispy skin. Together with light and perfumed 2015 Carlin de Paolo Dolcetto from Piemonte in Italy, this was lovely.
Our savoury courses concluded on a high with the Petto d’Anatra- a stunning dish of Rosemary smoked duck breast with Jerusalem artichoke puree, chestnuts and a chocolate and sour cherry just. The 2017 Fantina Farnese Montepulciano from Abruzzo in Italy was velvety smooth, soft and plummy which echoed the sweetness from the chocolate and cherry jus. Just yum – certainly our favourite food and wine pairing of the evening.
Dessert time continued to please with Torta di Mele. We loved the layers of crisp pastry, apple compote, apple chips and apple served alongside ice-cream, Chantilly and Zabaion. This was paired with the 2015 Rob Dolan ‘Late Harvest’ Sauvignon Blanc from the Yarra Valley.
Test Kitchen Tuesdays allows Tutto Bene’s kitchen to regularly stretch itself and build on the already popular Tutto Bene menu, giving customers the chance to weigh in on what new additions will be added to our a la carte menu.
Tutto Bene’s Test Kitchen Tuesdays commences Tuesday 25 June, and will continue monthly on the last Tuesday of each month. Other upcoming dates include 30 July, 27 August and 24 September.
