Unabara Lobster & Oyster Bar
/Unabara Lobster & Oyster Bar is a venue dedicated to seafood lovers. The menu boasts a delightful range of dishes highlighted by its excellent choice of oyster and lobster-centric dishes.
We loved tasting our way through the menu. To start, we enjoyed some of their izakaya dishes over some refreshing Japanese beer. Our top pick is the chicken karaage. A Japanese bar staple, we loved the meaty morsels encrusted with a flavoursome spice mix and then perfectly fried to achieve a moreish crunchy exterior – this one is dangerously addictive. The gyozas are another delicious starter too, which is perfect to share.
For mains the Unabara Lobster Sapporo ramen was amazing. The slender noodle strands were firmly cooked, and were pleasantly garnished with grilled half Boston Lobster, chashu, scallop, prawn and poached egg. The broth was delicious - A thick, cloudy and somewhat creamy concoction of decadently rich flavours. The seafood based soup had been flavoured with akamiso (red soybean paste) and infused with lobster bisque to create the most wonderful lobster miso broth that is thick and creamy with a unique depth of flavour. It was simply delicious.
If you’re both a lobster AND a meat lover, do not go past surf and turf - a decadent plate of 200 grams eye fillet cooked to your liking served with plump grilled half Boston Lobster and a generous side of chips and sauces.
If you have a sweet tooth, these guys have you covered too. Their soy based soft serves are a thing of beauty - choose between matcha and sakura/lychee/rose or a mix of both!
