At a glance: Pidapipo

The brainchild of owner and chef Lisa Valmorbida, Pidapipo has quickly built up a reputation for offering fresh, delicious gelato produced in the authentic Italian way.

After studying the art of Gelato at the Carpigiani Gelato University, Lisa returned to Australia to share her moreish creations with the people of Melbourne in a store named after a game she played with her nonno as a child.

Each gelato flavour is made from scratch every day from the highest quality Italian and local ingredients resulting in a fantastic final product. All of the flavours we sampled exhibited impressive purity of flavour. The subtlety and delicacy of flavours such as the Fior Di Latte and the Ricotta gelato were particularly impressive and set Pidapipo apart from its competitors. We were also impressed by the perfect level of sweetness across all flavours - a very welcome contrast from some of the over sweetened gelatos available elsewhere.

At a glance: Two fat indians

To celebrate UberEATS first year in Melbourne, UberEATS threw the food party of the year with a rooftop food festival at St Jeromes featuring some of Melbourne's favourite restaurants.

We loved Two Fat Indians delicious smashed samosa. Comfort food at its best, fluffy potato and greenpea cakes were adorned with the most luxuriously zesty and spicy tamarind and mint chutneys. Freshly chopped onions and coriander along with yogurt worked in harmony with the spice by adding a desirable freshness.

We loved Fonda's delicious tacos.

The mexico city pork taco was delicious. Freshly shredded raw zucchini atop tender morsels of pork layered with luxurious guacamole, guajillo chilli, pickled onion, coriander and pomegranate.

The fish taco was similarly good. We loved the chipotle aioli and fresh lime.

Thanks to OpenTable, Gastrology recently attended Time Out's The Chef Showdown.

The Showdown was a chance for four up-and-coming chefs to test their culinary creations on the toughest critics out there – the diners!

Pastuso was the perfect backdrop for the event.

The lunch featured a delightful first course by Zach Furst from Ides - A wonderfully refreshing dish of scallops with camomile.

The second course was presented to us by Dylan Forte from Bomba - A creative and multicultural take on the steak tartare.

The winning dish, the third course was an absolutely moreish dish of perfectly cooked Milawa duck breast with pumpkin custard, duck snow, wood oak log shiitake and crumb. A creation by Punit Fernandes from Merrywell, it was a knockout!

The Chef Showdown concluded on a sweet high with the final course from Jo Barrett from Oakridge - A delectable dessert of Davidson plum, raspberry, peppermint gum and spelt which left us all wanting more.

Following the donut stop, we head on down to one of the newer areas of the market where we visit Padre Coffee. In conjunction with local chocolatier Monsieur Truffe, Padre has created a selection of chocolate bars with unique flavours which are the  perfect way to finish off the tour. Our favorite chocolate bar tasting was the Daddy's Girl which consists of the freshly roasted Padre coffee beans. The coffee flavors blended superbly with the chocolate providing a balanced sweet ending to the tour!
