360Q
/Having sat idle for three years, 360Q has recently been reopened by renowned chef Barry Iddles.
Ideally located on the waterfront at Queenscliff Harbour, 360Q is an iconic dining destination.
The venue is split into two: the 360Q function space upstairs and the Hooked on Fish Cafe, Bar and Restaurant downstairs.
Our visit to the restaurant downstairs was incredibly memorable. The outdoor space calls out as the perfect day or night drinking and dining destination, featuring magnificent views over Queenscliff’s marina, the city of Melbourne in the distance, Port Phillip Heads and the town of Queenscliff.
We loved tasting our way through the new menu which boasts casual dining done well using local and seasonal produce.
To start a trio of steamed duck buns were delicious. Fluffy bao buns encased moreish and tender duck meat that had been heavily flavoured with aromatic lemongrass.
The saganaki and carrot fritters were similarly delicious. The fritters had a crunchy golden brown exterior and were succulently sweet - the nuggets of deep fried batter brought pleasure to our taste buds. It was a simple and delightful dish and went beautifully with the accompanying beetroot relish and spicy yoghurt.
For mains the King George whiting served with quinoa, zucchini, pinenuts and sage was lovely. The quality of the fish was exemplary. The skin was perfectly seared while the flesh was delicate and moist. It was a dish that allowed the natural subtle sweetness of the fish to be enjoyed.
For something more substantial the porterhouse steak with truffled mash, green beans and red wine jus was a crowd pleaser. The steak was perfectly seared on the outside and beautifully juicy and pink on the inside. It was evident that the meat sourced was of a good standard and there was great pride and care taken in its preparation.
Our visit concluded on a sweet high with a duo of delectable desserts. The the warm molten chocolate pudding with chocolate soil and double chocolate ice cream was beautifully decadent while the Apple and rhubarb oat crumble with vanilla was dreamy and possessed the perfect level of sweetness with the slight tartness from the apple and rhubarb shining through.
Firmly grounded in producing the best experience for all patrons, the new 360Q is already proving to be a favourite among locals and visitors, and it is easy to understand why.
