Alali

Alali Restaurant stuns guests with stunning vistas due to its unique location on the rim of the Caldera. This is combined with a unique gastronomic experience that will leave you, as the restaurant’s name suggests, “speechless”.

The brainchild of award winning Chef Adam Kodovas and resident Executive Chef Christos Bitsakis, the exquisite menu is full of twists and turns and yet retains strong roots in Mediterranean cuisine.

Renowned for its romantic vibe, this is a popular destination for popping the question but just because you’re not planning on getting engaged, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make a special trip to this restaurant.

Our evening commenced with a delicate and fresh dish of marinated seabass with saffron, tarama mousse and forbidden rice. To follow, the fava gyozas with mussels, shrimps and soya beans were similarly delicious. We loved the hearty flavours.

For mains the lamb fricassee with sea lettuce and monks’ beard was a triumph. The lamb had been sous vide and was so tender it simply melted in our mouths. If you’re in the mood for something lighter, then go for the Japanese inspired dish of tuna with white eggplant, avocado and Asian pear – it’s playful and bursts with umami.

Dessert time continued to please at Alali. Think moist pistachio cake with mastiha and grapes and a layered sensation of apricot pudding with kadaifi pastry and verbena. It’s all good.
