A familiar favourite (formally known as Albert Street Food & Wine), Albert & Sydney is the shiny new player on Brunswick's popular strip.

The venue is geared area towards young professionals looking for a smart, yet relaxed bar to have as their local.

With a strong focus on its impressive wine and cocktail list, the name is not only a nod to the bar’s location on the corner of Albert Street and Sydney Road, but also reflects the two unique personalities - curated cool on the Albert side meets classy contemporary on Sydney’s half – represented in both the bar’s décor and menu. The Albert side of the venue offers an industrial and edgy feel with bar seating, while Sydney showcases the contemporary and minimalist design with booths for intimate groups. 

The historical building, which was one of Melbourne’s first banks, features street art by Matthew Thompson, providing a quintessential Brunswick touch.

The menu has moved towards a sharing menu - perfect to accompany with wines and cocktails made by their knowledgeable mixologists.

We enjoyed the wide selection which has something for everyone’s taste, from smaller plates, burgers and sliders, to charcuterie and cheese boards.

We recommend the fried chicken wings. The meaty fried chicken morsels were each crusted with a flavoursome spice mix and then perfectly fried to achieve a moreish crunchy exterior. Delicious!

For something more substantial the aged steak was marvellous. The steak was perfectly seared on the outside and beautifully juicy and pink on the inside. It was evident that the meat sourced was of a good standard and there was great pride and care taken in its preparation.

Albert & Sydney is a venue with a sophisticated and classy atmosphere in a predominantly grungy and hipster area - perfect for after work drinks, a night out or for larger milestone celebrations.
