MFWF: Whisky, Billiards & Banter at Hotel Lindrum
/Located in Melbourne’s Flinders Street and named for the billiards hall which formerly occupied the space, Hotel Lindrum is a unique and intimate boutique hotel hosting 79 suites. Whilst Hotel Lindrum opened its doors in 1999, it still retains much of the building’s history, hosting the famed Lindrum Billiards Table and memorabilia from world champion snooker player and the hotel’s eponymous namesake Walter Lindrum in its luxurious lobby.
It is on this table that this generation’s greatest billiards player, three-time world champion Robby Foldvari, was in attendance to impart his knowledge of the felt. Robby provided an informative and entertaining lesson for those attending, capping off the day with a fantastic display of skillful trick shots which left the crowd wanting more.
David Baker from Bakery Hill Distillery was also on hand to guide us through his selection of exquisite gin and whiskies. Starting with a refreshing gin and tonic on arrival, the tasting moved to a Classic Single Malt, a Double Wood, closing with a smoky Peated Malt, dispersed with David’s informative explanation of the history of whisky and the distilling process. Each whisky was as flavoursome as the last, expertly paired with canapes from Hotel Lindrum’s executive chef Andre Christian E. Dulay.
