Buddha Thai
/Buddha Thai pleases guests with bold and assertive Thai flavours. If you want the real thing, it’s here. And it comes in abundance. Don't let the pricing fool you, the portions are wonderfully generous and perfect for sharing. And for wine lovers waiting to open that bottle in the cellar, Buddha Thai just so happens to be BYO as well.
We loved tasting our way through their menu. To start, the mixed entree is the way to go. A delicious selection of chicken satay curry puffs, spring rolls and fish cakes, served with 2 sauces (sweet chilli and peanut).
For mains we fell in love with the Pla Lard Prik – deep fried dish in a homemade chilli sauce. It's a thing of beauty. The fish was fresh with the mix of savouriness and sweetness bringing out its natural sweetness.
The Kaeng Dang (red curry) was similarly delicious. The perfectly seasoned curry broth possessed the customary punchy flavours exhibited by South East Asian curries and was a great match for plump prawns. Together with coconut rice, this was an addictive and comforting dish.
And yes, stir-fries here are great too. Our chicken Pad Nam Mun Hoy was bursting with flavour and boasted a beautiful char from the wok.
For dessert, do not go past the sticky rice with egg custard or with fresh slices of mango. It’s made in the traditional way and will have your taste buds singing.
Buddha Thai pleases with an authentic Thai menu, which boasts fresh ingredients, cooked to order delivering affordable quality Thai food to Melbournians. Expect generosity and a whole lot of care.
