Yoi Party

Last night, we gathered around the table at Yoi to enjoy Indonesian fusion delicacies made from family recipes with love.

Over the course of the delicious dinner we learned about Yoi’s roots and identity as an authentic and traditional Indonesian restaurant. We also got to know the beautiful people at the heart of the restaurant - Ibu Lie Tjoa and her two sons, Dion and Michael Sanusi.

Translated to mean ‘yes!’, Yoi serves Indonesian fusion delicacies using traditional family recipes, importing and making their own spices in-house.

We loved tasting our way through the menu – everything tasted delicious and was inspired by fiery and unique Indonesian flavours.

The salted egg chicken indomie is a favourite amongst visitors and it is easy to understand why. We loved the perfectly crispy and juicy fried chicken morsels slathered in a rich salted egg sauce atop bouncy noodles. The ayam penyet kremes was another winner. The beautifully battered and seasoned fried chicken was wonderfully crunchy and topped with mouth-watering sambal. A word of caution though, this dish is not for the faint hearted – the sambal is incredibly delicious but also incredibly spicy!

The beef rendang also hit the spot – think melt in your mouth 36 hour stewed tender Australian wagyu beef served with traditional coconut and spicy gravy.

Dessert time continues to please at Yoi. The sweet martabak is a must have. A very popular sweet treat in Indonesia, it’s a fluffy and very thick "pancake" with fillings such as chocolate sprinkle, nutella, crushed peanuts, condensed milk  and if you like even cheese (which as strange as it sounds, works a treat  - highly recommend!). The Es Chendol is another winner - perfect as a refreshing sweet drink or even as a dessert. This baby is made traditionally with aromatic pandan, gula melaka and coconut milk. It is sheer indulgence.

Yoi delivers classic Indonesian cuisine with some twists and turns along the way. Expect to taste authentic Indonesian flavours served in generous portions with pricing that will not hurt the hip pocket.
