Celebrity Cruises’ Culinary Showcase

Gastrology recently hopped on board Celebrity Solstice for the Celebrity Cruises’ Culinary Showcase - a unique event that provided us with the opportunity to step on board Celebrity Solstice for one night only - a ship known for stylish design, sophisticated modern luxury spaces, exquisite cuisine and the largest wine collection at sea.

The event kicked off with a tour and cooking demonstration in the Main Dining Room Galley, followed by a stunning dinner at the Tuscan Grille and finished with a taste of Solstice Nightlife.

We were pleased to be hosted by long-time Celebrity fan and foodie media personality, Lyndey Milan, who helped Celebrity announce a brand new dish inspired by Australia, soon to be rolled out on Australian sailings.
As foodie travel experiences continue to grow in popularity amongst Australian travellers, premium cruise line Celebrity Cruises has dialled up its culinary offering in time for the international cruise season down under. Returning for her sixth local season, Celebrity Solstice brings an incredible variety of epicurean experiences for food and wine buffs – crafted with unique, local Australian produce by 162 on board chefs.

Guests at the event were also the first Australian journalists to experience A Taste of Film, a gastronomic and film adventure on the grass of the Lawn Club, which pairs big-screen movies that evoke specific cultural, culinary or destination experience, with cuisine that brings the scenes on the screen to life through guest’s taste buds.

Celebrity Solstice boasts menus crafted by Michelin-starred chef, Cornelius Gallagher. Under Gallagher’s guidance, expert chefs from around the world serve up dynamic menus on board, inspired by and sourced from the destinations the ships visit. Plus, they lead Celebrity’s Chef’s Market Discoveries – where guests are guided through local markets before being served up a feast at a private dinner back on board, inspired by ingredients found that day.

Further cementing Celebrity Cruises’ credentials in the world of gourmet tourism, the line boasts the largest wine selection at sea. For the fifth year running, Celebrity Cruises’ one-of-a-kind wine program has been recognised by the Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards, claiming nine awards in 2017. Celebrity’s entire fleet of ocean vessels were awarded, making the brand’s wine collection the most awarded at sea.

Celebrity’s main dining room wine lists host over 300 prestigious labels, including Tignanello, Grgich Hills, Caymus Special Selection, and Guigal Cote Rotie, and a significant Australian and New Zealand range. A team of specially trained Sommeliers navigates guests on board through the award-winning wine lists, guiding them to new and exciting choices.
