Clubhouse Malvern

Clubhouse Malvern is yet another stunning café by the folks behind Bentwood, Tinker and Penta (just to name a few). Owner Julien Moussi named the cafe after that feeling after a round of golf where you look forward to having celebratory drinks at the clubhouse. The café successfully embodies that vibe – Clubhouse Malvern is simply a welcoming café that boasts an enticing menu that has plenty of variety so it has something for everyone. 

As expected of any good Melbourne café, the coffee is great and served by adept baristas. In line with the clubhouse theme, there is also a great selection of cocktails including the cheekily named 19th (named after the 19th hole on the golf course) which is made of a heady mix of spiced rum, butterscotch schnapps, espresso and filter coffee. 

On the food front there is a lot to love. Our top picks include the beautiful dish of burrata cheese served with savoury granola, fried basil, chilli balsamic, cherry tomatoes, beetroot and mint served atop crusty sourdough and finished with a liberal amount of EVOO.

For health fiends the green breakfast bowl is a winner – a moreish amalgamation of quinoa, avocado, kale, haloumi, yoghurt, black dukkah, pita chips and topped with a poached egg encasing runny yolk.

If you have a sweet tooth, you’ve found the right place to get your fix. Whatever you do, do not go past the blossom hotcakes. Simply divine! Think fluffy hotcakes served with lashings of salted caramel, strawberries, vanilla a mascarpone, dark chocolate meringue, raspberry and curd. If you prefer something richer, the black forest pannacotta is truly gratifying – We loved the melt in your mouth chocolate panna cotta served with vanilla coral sponge, raspberry jelly, lace cookie, pomegranate molasses and biscuit crumb.
