Middle Park Hotel
/Steeped in historical charm, the Middle Park Hotel encompasses what makes a Melbourne pub great.
When it comes to food, there is plenty to love. Head Chef Sangsub Ha's new winter menu is fresh, seasonal and champions Victorian produce whilst drawing inspiration from Asian and European flavours and spices.
To start we loved the Raw Hiramasa kingfish. Exceedingly fresh slices of Kingfish were garnished nori powder, squid ink rice puff and creamy daikon radish remoulade. It was a wonderfully flavoursome dish that allowed the natural sweetness of the fish to shine through.
The veal carpaccio was similarly delicious. Thin slices of veal were decadently spiked crisp apple, creamy feta and perfectly balanced with truffle soy. The addition of aromatic curry oil was a masterstroke which added interest to the dish. Simply beautiful.
For mains we suggest you try one of their amazing steaks. The menu certainly excels in char as much as the restaurant does in charm.
There are 5 hand-selected cuts of beef from farms, each paired with the chef’s selection of sides
and your choice of sauce or butter. We sampled the whopping 700g Rib eye and LOVED it - Displaying a mastery in the manner the steak was cooked, the inch thick cut of beef was cooked perfectly from end to end. A light searing ensured that it was lined with a thin crisp layer packed with caramelised beef flavour.
Showcasing the kitchen’s versatility, the desserts at Middle Park Hotel are again, pretty darn good. Think refreshing berry gazpacho served with luxurious goats cheese sorbet or rich salted three layered chocolate tart and lychee. Thoroughly modern and seriously yum.
