Cosi Bar Ristorante
/Cosi is an intimate and chic Modern Italian eatery in the heart of South Yarra. The kitchen serves delicious Italian cuisine which centres on the preparations of authentic Italian dishes paired with fresh ingredients.
Our dinner commenced with an entrée of calamari fritti. A traditional comfort-food classic, each morsel was beautifully battered, fried and sufficiently seasoned.
As expected of any good Italian restaurant, Cosi is good at producing quality pasta dishes. The Tortellini alla Cacciatora was no exception. A luxurious mix of chicken, pancetta, olives and tomato encased in superbly cooked pasta. These parcels were then adorned with the most intense roast chicken sauce and crispy chicken skin. Simply wonderful.
The mains continued to meet our expectations admirably.
The fish of the day of crispy skin snapper was cooked to perfection. The dish Maiale con Pesche e Pastinaca was similarly excellent – Beautiful pork a crepinette served with veal, pistachio, parsnip, peaches and fennel. The piece of pork belly boasted a wonderful crackling that was rich and texturally sublime.
After the rollicking ride provided by the savoury courses, the first of our desserts arrived - Latte e Malto. A cheeky celebration of milky things, this was an assembly of milk cake, dulce de leche, meringue, malt and hazelnut ice cream. The Cioccolato “A Modo Mio” would have pleased any chocolate love with its various forms and textures of chocolate served with a rhubarb conserva which delivered a slight acidity which cut through the richness of the chocolate. The desserts were a decadent end to a decadent meal.
Cosi serves cooking that comes from the heart, infused with fresh ingredients, traditional flavours and innovative preparations; blending contemporary Italian style with classic Italian influence.
