Lonely Planet - Global Beer Tour Book Launch
/Lonely Planet has published every beer drinkers favourite new book - Lonely Planet's Global Beer Tour which explores the world's best breweries.
To mark the occasion, Gastrology was invited to a special craft beer tasting hosted by co-author TIm Charody (from The Beer Pilgrim).
With Tim's guidance, the tasting explored a variety of beers from all over the world. The tasting started off with a golden yellow beer from Germany, then moved onto the local 4 Pines Kolsch, and a hoppy IPA from America. Our personal preference was the Kolsch which was inspired by the German town of Cologne, the beer was clean, refreshing and easy to drink with a slight hoppyness. Next on the journey was a fully fermented beer from Belgium and a Dutch beer which combined Quadruple and Imperial stout styles. Both were an acquired taste with unique berry and chocolate notes.
Lonely Planet's Global Beer Tour illustrates the finest breweries that the world has on offer. Locally, Australia is well represented in the book with breweries from Beechworth, Margaret river, and Hobart being featured. The book is organised by country, and also includes recommended local sights so that travellers can not only visit the local area, but enjoy the local beer.
Lonely Planet's Global Beer Tour is now available at all good book stores and is a must read for all beer enthusiasts.
