MASSI
/The little brother to iconic Kew eatery Mister Bianco, Massi is inspired by chef and owner, Joseph Vargetto's travels through northern Italy and named after his youngest child, Massimo.
The intimate restaurant seats 50 guests and specialises in the simple and graceful dishes of Piedmont. It also offers a crudo antipasto corner where diners can be entertained with the chefs at work, slicing salami, pistachio mortadella and more.
The menu is classically Italian, with a range of cold meats and antipasto to start and pasta is naturally a focus with their signature cavatelli on the menu.
An absolute highlight from our dinner (not unexpectedly) was the Cavatelli octopus stracotto, lemon and basil. Perfectly al dente, this Sicilian style semolina gnocchi was the perfect canvas for the slow cooked octopus. It was comfort food at it’s best.
The agnolotti 'del pin' was similarly delicious. Think silky and delicate pasta sheets encasing a moreish pork and pea filling, swimming in a hearty, thick broth of pecorino brodetto.
In true Italian form, desserts are a highlight (we recommend the cannola 'alla siciliana'), alongside a broad selection of international cheeses to finish off the meal or enjoy with the aperitivo.
