Halloumi Cheese dinner at Epocha
/The Panagrotikos Farmers Union of Cyprus (who are visiting from Greece) and famous Restaurateur, Angie Giannakodakis, hosted a scrumptious four-course dinner at Epocha last night where attendees learnt about one of Australia’s newest Cypriot cheese brands, Christis Halloumi Cheese. The dinner was a celebration of this incredibly delicious and versatile cheese that you can quite literally eat for every meal of the day.
The evening saw Epocha’s chefs showcase the various ways you can incorporate halloumi into trending seasonal menus this spring. Fresh tastings were also available alongside the grilled, fried and roasted options incorporated into the Mediterranean spread with matched wines.
We loved tasting our way through the evening's bespoke menu which included a stunning entree of roast pumpkin, farro, molasses, dill and grilled halloumi. The main dish of Flinders Island lamb shoulder was similarly delicious. The lamb was so tender it was simply falling off the bone and went beautifully with red mojo sauce and mustard halloumi piperade. Dessert time showcased the versatility of the cheese - Halloumi Mille Feuille served with gianduja, mandarin and bitter chocolate tuille. Just yum!
