Sash
/Best known for its Japanese-style pizza, Sash Restaurant excites with a new food concept not before seen anywhere else in the world.
Upon entry, you immediately notice a neon sign - “Hangovers are temporary… Stories last forever.” which sets the tone for the venue – expect instant gratification within fun and contemporary surrounds.
The menu features a new style of Japanese Fusion that blends Hawaiian-Peruvian Japanese and European influences. To start we loved the Sake buttermilk chicken nuggets. An absolute showstopper, each meaty morsel was crusted with a flavoursome spice mix and then perfectly fried to achieve a moreish crunchy exterior. Together with smoked chipotle, wasabi salt and maple syrup this was ridiculously addictive
A visit to Sash would of course be incomplete without one of their pizzas. The Zucchini, broccoli pizza was a real treat think thin pizza base topped with garlic roasted zucchini, grilled broccoli, salsa verde, smoked tonkatsu and pickled ginger.
For mains we adored the wagyu beef served with watercress salad, tempura watercress which was finished with a yuzu miso teriyaki jus. Like most high-quality cuts, it was best cooked rare to medium. Displaying a mastery in the manner the steak were cooked, the steak was cooked perfectly from end to end. A light searing on the robata grill ensured that each steak was lined with a thin crisp layer packed with caramelised beef flavour. Just yum!
Dessert time continues to please at Sash. Whatever you do, do not go past the Golden gothic pudding – Charcoal activated bread and butter pudding, topped with luscious salted caramel ice cream and served with lashings of miso caramel glaze and some fluffy fairy floss. You can thank us later.
