I Love Dumplings

With locations in Kensington, the CBD, Richmond, Brunswick and St Kilda, I Love Dumplings is a stunning group of restaurants serving moreish Chinese cuisine. 

We loved checking out the group’s newest St Kilda outlet. Upon entering I Love Dumplings St Kilda, diners will be pleased by the restaurant’s chic ambience. Designed to capture a contemporary and communal feel, the expansive dining room is adorned with wooden and red splashes and different textures for a stunning contrast. 

In line with its social setting, the menu is designed for sharing - ranging from various small plates, dishes from the wok, dumplings and noodles. There is something to suit everyone.

To start, we loved the dumplings. The pan-fried seafood dumplings made with fish fillet, shrimp, squid and ginger were absolutely stunning - boasting a wonderful crispness on the bottom from the grill. We opted to have them served with Sichuan chili sauce which took the dish to the next level. The chilli sauce boasted the perfect level of heat and was beautifully savoury.  The Steamed crystal vegetarian dumplings were another must-have, - fresh, light and flavoursome.

For mains, the Sizzling beef with vegetables in Mongolian sauce was a stunner. Think tender slices of melt in your mouth beef arriving at the table in a sizzling hot plate. Just yum! If you love duck, then I Love Dumplings has you sorted with the Shanghai style crispy duck. This duck left us wanting more – wonderfully crispy and moreish. From the seafood section, the Salted pepper king prawn was a crowd pleaser. Large juicy prawns were encased in ethereally light batter and seasoned to perfection.  Each of our main dishes paired beautifully with rice.

Dessert time at I Love Dumplings continues to excite. A lovely take on the traditional, the desserts are very well executed and delicious. We particularly enjoyed I Love Dumplings’ take on the traditional banana fritter was delicious. The banana had a light and crispy batter and was soft and sweet inside. Served with a creamy chocolate ice cream, this was a pleasant end to our meal.  

More than just dumplings, I Love Dumplings affords a memorable dining experience that comprises delicious food at a very reasonable price point in a relaxing setting. We cannot wait to return.
