Keystone
/Nestled in Wantirna South, Keystone is a family owned neighbourhood Italian restaurant with a broad menu spanning pastas, wood fired pizzas and a wide assortment of mains and salads. The space is bright, airy and modern, boasting high ceilings and a large outdoor seating area which is perfect for lounging on a weekend.
Under new management, the new owners of Keystone have brought a new focus on fresh, high quality produce, friendly service and generosity. We started with garlic prawns, grilled Japanese scallops, saganaki and zucchini and pea fritters. The black tiger prawns were cooked perfectly and served with crusty garlic bread that was perfect to soak up the creamy, garlic sauce. The scallops were fresh and sweet and the saganaki drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with oregano was simple and delicious.
For mains, the grilled Atlantic salmon was generous, cooked well and paired wonderfully with the garlic kale and creamy mash. Another standout was the pumpkin and quinoa salad with chicken. Highly aromatic, the salad boasted middle eastern influences and was wonderful and the use of nutmeg infused roasted pumpkin was an inspired choice. Also worth noting was the expertly cooked scotch fillet with slow roasted roma tomatoes, peppercorn jus and a jacket potato.
For dessert it was hard to look past the Nutella pizza. Generously smothered with Nutella and topped with fresh strawberries and vanilla ice cream, it was a sweet finish to a lovely meal.
Keystone is a great all rounder in the east and well worth checking out.
