Kong x Heroes Barbeque, Booze and Karaoke Party
/Heroes is a new Hawker-style barbecue, karaoke and rooftop bar. A new milestone for the team from Fancy Hank’s and Good Heavens, the bar menu is cooked entirely over fire and coals that is fresh, tasty and meant to be eaten fast, all while staying true to head chef Alicia’s Singaporean heritage.
Last night, Heroes head chef Alicia Cheong themed up with Kong BBQ chefs Benjamin Cooper and Mat Brazier and Fancy Hank’s executive chef Mike Patrick to create two Korean-inspired BBQ platters.
The Kong x Heroes Meat Tray was a real beauty - laden with chicken wings, smoked pork shoulder, crispy pork belly, Japanese slaw, kimchi and various other condiments.
Vegans were also well looked after with a wholesome plate of roasted butternut pumpkin and fried cauliflower accompanied by tasty vegan morsels.
The rooftop bar on level three was the perfect backdrop - the long, colourfully lit space is cosy and features low hanging neon lighting, pop music posters and a forest worth of plants. The rooftop is simply the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of Bourke Street. Venue designer and co-owner Kent Bell has nicely replicated a space reminiscent of the back-street bars of Kuala Lumpur.
Private karaoke rooms are also available on site - a great zone for large group hangs or meeting a fellow karaoke lover.
