Ngon Vietnamese Bistro is a popular local Vietnamese eatery located in Highett.
Ngon’s mission is simple: to serve authentic Vietnamese fare that won’t break the bank in a relaxed setting. The menu is authentic, affordable and takes you on a trip around Vietnam, all the way from up north to down south (from rice paper rolls to vermicelli noodle bowls, or pho).
To start we loved the traditional Bo la lot featuring grilled minced beef in betel leaves, slathered in beautiful nuoc cham sauce. Whatever your do, do not leave without trying the Banh Xeo. Crispy Saigon turmeric coconut pancake encases pork and bean sprouts and is served alongside fragrant herbs and lettuce wraps. This was truly a thing of beauty.
For mains, the dish of Lamb Shank curry was wonderfully generous. We loved the massive tender lamb shank swimming in the flavoursome curry which was perfect to soak the accompanying fried baos in.
The Saigon roasted duck was similarly delicious. Addictive morsels of roast duck were served with homemade xo sauce and a delicious soy gravy. Just yum!
With a free corkage BYO policy, a bunch of all-time favourites on the menu, coupled with speedy and friendly service Ngon Vietnamese Bistro is a winner.
