The Precinct Hotel
/Previously owned by the Darcy family, The Precinct Hotel, in Richmond has recently changed hands. As a result, the venue is going through a makeover - and it's only just the beginning. To start, the courtyard has been revamped to include an impressive addition of a 2.5 metre screen and we hear there are some impressive plans scheduled for next year.
To match the sleek new interior and grand visions for the future, the kitchen serves up Modern Australian pub food which is simple, unpretentious and delicious in their elegant dining room. The menu has something for everyone - with pub classics such as chicken parmigiana to more in vogue offerings including healthy options such as beef and quinoa salad with edamame and heirloom tomatoes.
The beverage list boasts a solid selection of wines, cocktails and craft beer.
To start the pan fried prawn and ginger dumplings were a delight. Boasting a crisp exterior and juicy perfectly seasoned fillings. For mains we recommend the lamb shank which were the highlight of our evening. This dish combined flawless texture with superlative flavours. Superbly slow braised, the tender meat of the lamb shanks fell delicately off the bone and melded stunningly with the dreamy sweet potato mash and jus.
A hearty warm chocolate pudding concluded our evening on a sweet note. We loved the lashings of salted caramel which adorned the pudding alongside a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.
The new Precinct Hotel delivers good food and good times with good old fashioned hospitality.
