Located on the ground floor of the Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens Melbourne, HQ’s Restaurant and Bar pleases guests with their seasonal menu.
Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens Melbourne has recently achieved a Gold Certification in EarthCheck and won a place on the Star Ratings Gold Top Ten list for Melbourne accommodation properties. The kitchen, headed by Executive Chef Leigh Robbins, is part of the reason behind the hotel's success.
The dinner menu features polished Modern Australian cuisine while the lunch menu features affordable and quick options perfect for corporate lunches. Both of the menus are seasonal and look to what is fresh and readily available at the local market and features locally sourced meats, vegetables and cheeses.
To start, the duck liver parfait (which features on the bar's grazing menu and dinner menu) was excellent. The luxurious parfait was full of flavour and served with house-made buttery brioche which acted as the perfect canvas for all the enticing elements.
For mains we enjoyed the Hazelnut and Oat Crusted Atlantic Salmon from the lunch menu. The salmon was wonderfully seared and beautifully pink inside and served with aromatic lemon scented crushed potato and a fresh salsa verde which contrasted well with the oily fish.
The desserts that followed were superbly executed.
Leigh's take on the Crème Catalana was stunning and featured a vibrant combination of flavours. The dessert had a pleasant balance with the sweetness of the caramel blending well with the flavour and texture of the almond biscotti. The accompanying surprise element of popping candy added a playful touch and was a welcomed addition to the dessert.
Beautifully rich, the Chocolate Dome Cake was a decadent end to our visit. The soft mousse centre had a wonderful smooth and melt-in-your-mouth consistency. The salted caramel balanced the overall sweetness of the chocolate while the honeycomb provided texture. Served with decadent vanilla bean ice cream, this dessert was sublime.
