Rice Paper Sister
/The sister venue to Rice Paper Scissors, Rice Paper Sister is located at 15 Hardware Lane, just off Bourke St in the CBD. The eatery offers a South East Asian hawker dining and bar experience and takes the same approach as its older sister - expect fresh, organically sourced ingredients and an inviting atmosphere.
The diverse food and cocktail menu allows you to choose your own dining experience. Offering a range of traditional and more modern dishes, there truly is something for everyone.
Our top picks from the menu include the Hervey Bay scallops – exceedingly fresh, plump and sweet scallops are fermented in coconut vinegar. For something a little bit special, the Moreton Bay bugs are a must have. Simply full of flavour from being coated in luxurious coconut thermidor and shellfish oil.
For something a little fiery (perfect to dip your roti in), and equally as delicious, we recommend the roasted eggplant with Szechuan sauce and peanuts. It is a seriously decadent plate.
For mains the grilled whiting with spiced butter and sambal matah transports us to Bali. While this is a more sophisticated version, the flavours pack a punch.
For something heartier, the goat shoulder marinated in Filipino dry curry, served with spring onion pancake is sheer pleasure.
Desserts continue to excite at Rice Paper Sister. We loved the cheekily named dessert, ‘filo-misu’, a Filipino twist on the classic tiramisu as well as the mouth-watering hot apple-pie, drizzled liberally with butterscotch and coconut ice-cream
