Sixty Smith

Sixty Smith is Collingwood's latest neighbourhood bar and restaurant on Smith Street. A relaxed bar and restaurant that beats with a global heart with its delicious world-inspired food offerings but has a local Melbourne soul (think handcrafted cocktails, local wines and regular community art events).

We loved tasting our way through the menu which reflects the food journey of head chef Three Phadungkarn. The former chef at MoVida and Syracuse, Three aims for guests to feel like they’re having a home-cooked meal but prepared by a personal chef.

The menu features everything from Thai; to French; to Spanish tapas. To start we loved the wild mushroom croquette which is just beautifully prepared – perfectly crunchy on the outside and topped with a rich earthy mushroom ketchup. The dish of roasted carrots was similarly delicious. It was a celebration of different varieties of heirloom carrots and went beautifully with luxurious pumpkin puree and labneh alongside textural dukkah.

For mains the spatchcock was a true crowd pleaser and had us fighting over the last morsel. We loved the beautiful accompaniments of braised brussel sprouts, bacon and grilled leek. For something really hearty, do not go past the classical dish of ox cheek served with parsnip puree, braised onion and horseradish – perfect comfort food for Melbourne’s cold winter.

Dessert time continued to please. We opted for the baked chocolate ganache which did not disappoint. Think chocolate fondant encasing gooey bitter chocolate topped with hazelnuts and butterscotch served with crème fraiche ice cream.
