Nestled within the chic confines of AKI Hong Kong - MGallery in Wan Chai, TANGRAM Bistro & Bar offers a contemporary twist on classic French cuisine. Under the guidance of French Executive Chef Hubert Goussard, the restaurant seamlessly blends traditional French flavors with modern culinary techniques, creating an innovative dining experience that caters to the dynamic Hong Kong palate.

During a recent visit, we indulged in the sharing set menu for two, a curated selection that showcases the restaurant's commitment to quality and creativity. The meal commenced with Seasonal French Scallops from Normandy, seared to perfection. The scallops' natural sweetness was enhanced by a delicate seasoning, offering a tender and flavorful start to our dining journey.

Following this, we savored the French Traditional Beef Tartare. This classic dish featured finely chopped raw beef, expertly seasoned and accompanied by crisp toast points. The harmonious blend of textures and flavors paid homage to French culinary tradition while appealing to contemporary tastes.

The main course presented Seared Sea Bream paired with fennel and capers brown butter. The fish was cooked to a succulent finish, its mild flavor complemented by the anise notes of fennel and the rich, tangy caper-infused brown butter. This combination resulted in a balanced and satisfying dish that exemplified the restaurant's innovative approach to classic French fare.

Dessert was a delightful affair, beginning with a Strawberries and Olive Oil Sponge Cake. The moist, airy sponge cake was infused with the subtle richness of olive oil, providing a unique backdrop to the vibrant sweetness of fresh strawberries. This inventive dessert showcased the chef's ability to reimagine traditional ingredients in exciting new forms.

The meal concluded with Chef Ricky’s Pastry, a testament to the pastry chef's artistry and attention to detail.
